Flüela Schwarzhorn (Davos Region)

The Flüela Schwarzhorn (“Flüela Black Peak”) called after the Flüela Pass connection Davos to the Engadin) is the highest mountain in the surroudings of Davos (3164m). The Scharzhorn is more a sking mountain than a ski moutain and the tour on skis is usually only made as long as the Flüelapass is still open (usually closes before Christmas until May). The view is beathtaking:

The ascent from the Flüela Pass is quite flat in parts and the top aprt (usually done without skis can be quite “rocky” (view of the ascnet ot the peak):

As in November 2012, the snow cover was only decent above 2000 meters, I did that tour on a beautiful sunny day enjoying the views (and the powder in some places).

Das Flüela Schwarzhorn bietet sich als einfacher Skiberg (mit Steineinlagen) an, solange der Flülapass offen ist. Es hat lange flache Stellen und der Gipfel ist sehr (!)steinig. Der Gifpelgrat wird deshalb meist zu Fuss begangen. Ich bin trotzdem bis zum Gipfel mit den Ski aufgestiegen und holte mir dann aber bei der Abfahrt einige gröbere Kratzer in den Skis.
