April 2018 – Still Meters (!!) of Snow in the Swiss Alps

2917/18 was a great ski touring seasons (and still is) here in the Swiss Alps. There is still meters of snow above the treeline. Check out the snow map below (3 April 2018) from the Swiss Snow and Avalanche Institute SLF. In Cental Switzerland there is more than 3 meters (10 feet) of hard-packed snow. It looks like we will be able to go on ski tours well in June or July!

While I have been on the mountains quite often, mainly in the Davos region, I have not not done (yet) any spectacular tours. But, as said, there are many weeks to catch up.
